FOG Design + Art Fair returns to San Francisco’s Fort Mason Center for Arts & Culture from January 21–25, continuing its role as the anchor event of San Francisco Art Week. Now in its 12th year, FOG has established itself as the West Coast’s most tightly curated fair focused on contemporary art, collectible design, and cross-disciplinary gallery programming.

Unlike large commercial art expos built for scale, FOG is defined by restraint and editorial control. The fair typically presents just over 60 international and U.S.-based galleries, selected for their relevance within contemporary art, modern design, and historical design movements. That smaller footprint creates an experience centered on discovery, dialogue, and close visual engagement rather than volume.

The fair opens with its Preview Gala on Wednesday, January 21, an invitation-only event benefiting SFMOMA’s education initiatives. The public fair runs Thursday, January 22 through Sunday, January 25, drawing collectors, architects, interior designers, curators, and design-focused buyers from across the Bay Area and beyond.

Inside Fort Mason’s Festival Pavilion, visitors encounter a mix of contemporary fine art, postwar and modern design, ceramic and sculptural works, lighting, furniture, and editioned objects.  Many of the galleries exhibiting at FOG participate in both fine art fairs and major international design fairs, reinforcing the fair’s hybrid identity.

The fair’s timing within San Francisco Art Week places it alongside major institutional programming across the city, including exhibitions at SFMOMA, the de Young, and independent gallery spaces. For visitors traveling in for the week, FOG often serves as both entry point and reference frame for the broader cultural calendar.

Fort Mason’s waterfront setting plays a practical role rather than a symbolic one. The open, industrial pavilion allows for clean sightlines, natural light, and flexible booth configurations that support installation-scale work and museum-level presentation standards. It’s part of why many galleries prioritize FOG as a venue for debuting new bodies of work rather than secondary inventory.

Ticket pricing for 2026 remains consistent with prior editions, with single-day and multi-day passes available through the official fair site at FOGFair.com. Attendance typically builds steadily through the weekend, with Friday and Saturday drawing the largest crowds.
