Diamond Head on Oahu, HI

Hawaii’s natural beauty and exclusive neighborhoods have made it a destination for high-end buyers. These five enclaves highlight how setting, design, and privacy come together to define luxury island living.

Kahala, Oʻahu

Often dubbed the “Beverly Hills of Hawaii,” Kahala features stately oceanfront mansions and quiet, upscale residential streets. Homes for sale here span a wide range — from interior lots in the mid-millions to beachfront estates over $20 million.

Many residences integrate indoor-outdoor living, private beach access, and views toward Diamond Head. One legacy compound on three properties in Kahala sold for $65 million this year.

Diamond Head / Waialae-Kahala, Oʻahu

The slopes around Diamond Head deliver dramatic elevation, sea views, and architectural variety. Homes in Waialae-Kahala often list in the $2–3 million+ range, with luxury inventory pushing higher — e.g., a $55 million listing in the Waialae-Kahala corridor. Properties here emphasize orientation (sunrises, ocean vistas) and a balance between privacy and proximity to Honolulu’s core.

Wailea, Maui

Wailea is a purpose-built resort enclave combining oceanfront residences, golf, spas, and curated landscaping. Its reputation for refinement attracts high-end buyers who value seamless access to resort amenities and tropical design. Luxury homes here often emphasize open-air courtyards, panoramic water views, and landscaping that softens the transition between built form and natural beauty.

Makena, Maui

Just south of Wailea, Makena offers a quieter tone. It is known for its large estate lots, dramatic coastline vistas, and privacy. While not every home here reaches the heights of Kahala or Wailea, some listings push over $20 million, especially where unobstructed ocean frontage is involved.

Makena appeals to buyers seeking sanctuary: reduced traffic, wide views, and the soundscape of the Pacific. Designs here often prioritize retreat-like layouts, maximizing privacy without sacrificing connection to the setting.

Kukio, Big Island

On Hawaii’s Big Island, Kūkiʻo Golf & Beach Club is a private, equity-member community along the Kohala Coast. It sits adjacent to the Four Seasons Hualālai resort and is accessible only to residents and club members (no general public access). Select Kukio homes reach into the tens of millions, though most currently range from $7 million to $15 million.. Architectural expression leans contemporary Hawaiian — lanais, glass walls, integration with lava rock setting, and sweeping seascapes.
